A Visit to Delhi

3:28 PM

We had been on our annual vacation to our native, when we suddenly made a plan to visit and explore the city of Delhi - a favorite destination for foodies and shopaholics.

We booked our flight ticket from Varanasi via Indigo Airlines and reached Delhi at 8 am and then booked a cab straight to our hotel. We were so excited and eagerly looking forward to our entire trip.

Delhi, the capital city of India brimming with history has so many tourist places to explore. It also offers one of the best cuisines and has lots of shopping destinations.

We began exploring the city and its culture by making a visit to Old Delhi first. We went to see Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Humayun's Tomb. We also had gastronomical delight in the streets of Old Delhi and it was filled with the aromas of food. Restaurants like Karim's and Al Jawahar are not to be missed here. Chandni Chowk is definitely the street food capital of Delhi and we spent an entire evening there.

Next day, we made a trip to Gurgaon and visited Kingdom of Dreams. It has got a beautiful architecture and is a must visit place for families. It has got theme based restaurants and artwork from all the states of our country. We also went for a live entertainment show which was a showcase of an excellent performance of stage artists.

Then we headed to another tourist spot called Delhi Haat located at South of Delhi. It is an open air craft bazar and food courts. We enjoyed various food from different state of the country and I must say the kababs at Awadhi Kabab Festival was the best. We also visited Qutub Minar on the same day. It is the tallest brick minaret in the world and is recognized by UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We also had a great time at Kalindi Kunj park, located on the banks of River Yamuna. It is a beautiful lush green garden which gets even more beautiful with mesmerizing fountains and lights in the evening. There is also an amusement park attached to it incorporating a water park. It also has a giant wheel called the Delhi Eye similar to the London Eye and we had an adventurous time enjoying the various rides.

Joyland
Being in Delhi, you cannot miss food and I was most of the time hogging in my entire trip. This place has got to offer the best chaats, qormas, sweets and desserts. The food was also not spicy compared to the Andhra style food that we get here in Bangalore and it was perfect to the liking of my little one. We also had a delicious meal at Karim's in their Jasola Vihar branch.

food, food, food
A visit to Delhi is incomplete without experiencing its Metro. We had an awesome ride in it visiting various places and I must say that it is so well planned connecting all the major areas to visit. Using this we also saved lot of time and covered all the areas with ease.

Our return flight to Bangalore was booked well in advance through Yatra. Our exciting and memorable journey came to an end, but the glorious memories of this visit still lingers on and for me it was My Ideal Yatra which I intend to make again.
